#SpiralSpeaks Hear from Paige about her experience as a 696 Promoter with the Horniman Museum

My experience on the 696 promoters programme was amazing! I’m so glad I applied! Each week, we had interactive workshops with music industry professionals. They shared their career journeys and gave us advice on how to break into the industry.

Over the weeks, I got to build a rapport with the other young people on the programme. We have so much in common, our cultural backgrounds and more importantly our love for music! Together we shared ideas and used are varied skill-sets to plan, produce and promote the event. R.A.E was our headliner, and the djs were awesome. It was a great turnout!

I aspire to be like the Marketing professionals who came in to speak to us - Haydn Corrudus from Arts Council England, Sian from Horniman Museum & Gardens and Emma from Spiral. Their advice resonated with me. i.e. create a social media calendar using tools like Hootsuite, consistently add value to you your audience in an engaging way and ensure you love the hustle!

I am currently on the kickstart scheme working as Social Media Assistant at Carnival Village Trust. Here I research, create and publish content celebrating carnival arts and Caribbean culture. The invaluable workshops and advice from the 696 programme has definitely helped me in my current role.

Rudi, the youth engagement coordinator at Horniman Musuem and Gardens and Joel the founder of Spiral guided us through the 696 Programme. Even after, they continued to support us by sending us relevant job and training opportunities. I applied to and was accepted on ‘the school of lockdown x youth music programme’ by Lyrix Organix . I can’t wait to start and continue my journey in the music industry!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us paige! congratulations to all our 696 promoters for their achievements across the project. an extra Special thank you to our delivery partners the horniman museum & gardens.
